Deployment of the EU mission on border of Armenia is an insidious stab in back of Russia with an Armenian knife - Sergey Markov

"Negotiations between the leaders of Azerbaijan and Armenia mediated by the European Union and France in Prague, and earlier similar negotiations in Brussels indicate that Azerbaijan is ready to make maximum diplomatic efforts to peacefully resolve all issues and contradictions between Azerbaijan and Armenia for signing peace agreement, in which Armenia would fully recognize Karabakh as part of Azerbaijan," Russian political scientist Sergey Markov said, commenting on the results of negotiations between Azerbaijani and Armenian leaders.

He said that Azerbaijan tried to ensure peaceful withdrawal of all Armenian weapons from the territory of Karabakh.

“All these negotiations are aimed at ensuring that Azerbaijani state institutions can take full control of the entire territory of Karabakh. The Azerbaijani flag, the Azerbaijani manat, the Azerbaijani language, the Azerbaijani policeman, and the Azerbaijani engineer who would build roads and restore territories would appear in Karabakh.

"Obviously, France is not a neutral party, and the European Union is under the influence of France in foreign policy. Therefore, Paris tries to achieve any agreements as much as possible in the interests of Armenia. But even such a cunning, deceitful pseudo-intermediary as France can also be used to move towards peace if diplomacy is led by such an experienced diplomat as President Ilham Aliyev

More specifically, the agreement means that the EU mission will be deployed on the territory of Armenia. At the same time, France would like to place this mission on the territory of both Armenia and Azerbaijan. However, Azerbaijan politely rejected and expressed its readiness to cooperate with these forces where necessary. In my view, such deployment of the EU mission in Russia, in fact NATO, which actively pursues an anti-Russian policy, will be considered hostile, like a stab in the back with an Armenian knife. I'm not sure that betrayal of Russia will help Armenia. It can lead to Russia giving a signal to Azerbaijan - "Take Karabakh completely, using all your capabilities and resources, including military forces!", Markov noted.
